Each year we observe this day as an unofficial holiday for taking all kinds of names in vain with lighthearted criticism of religious he-who-must-not-be-named and other “sacred cows.” Because Satan is not real but a literary metaphor for rebellion against arbitrary authority, blasphemy is a easy path to catharsis for any religious trauma you’ve endured or witnessed. Whether you’re hailing Satan or saying, “not today, Jesus” this is a fun annual observance for all who’ve left indoctrination behind. -
